Nabil Farhan, Founder & CEO

Nabil, founded Bright Owl Consulting in late 2019. Nabil, is a veteran of both the private and public sector, having founded his own business (which he successfully sold to a publicly trading company), and worked for 17 years at the CRA’s Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) department. Having been in the shoes of both entrepreneurs and auditors, Nabil is uniquely suited to address our client needs by both empathizing with entrepreneurs, and knowing what the CRA wants and needs when it comes to filing your claim. Some key highlights of Nabil’s long and illustrious career include: 17 years as a senior research and technology advisor with Canada Revenue Agency. Prior to working at CRA, Nabil worked 18 years in the private sector involved in the design, development and management of several systems; consulting manager with E&Y CAP Gemini, delivering several engagement for the company’s elite customers; Vice President of B2B eCommerce Division with SwitchView Inc; Co-founder of successful start-up, CanadianLynx, directly involved in generating company’s annual revenue of over $2.8 million. Senior consultant to IBM and Bell Canada, Bell Sygma (acquired by CGI Consulting). Nabil, provided technical and operational advise in the development of Minerva. Minerva, is the backbone system of Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario). FedDev Ontario delivers programs and services to support innovation and economic growth in southern Ontario.

Peter Marrack, Partner

Peter, recently joined our team, he is also a veteran of both the private and public sectors. Peter is a licenced Professional Engineer and also holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration. Peter’s first career spanned 37 years at General Motors Corporation where he worked primarily in the Powertrain Division in both manufacturing engineering and production management. Peter was an Engineering Manager for several powertrain manufacturing plants, a Production Manager for an engine components manufacturing plant and the Project Manager for several large projects (greater than $100 million). Peter gained extensive exposure to cutting edge manufacturing technology, product development, large project management and lean manufacturing. Peter was responsible for managing all aspects of the SR&ED submissions for over 20 years. After retiring from GM in 2014, Peter worked for the Canada Revenue Agency’s SR&ED program for eight years as a Research and Technology Advisor, as well as a Research and Technology Manager. During this time Peter reviewed numerous SR&ED claims for eligibility from all industry sectors such as: Information and Communications Technology, all fields of Engineering and Manufacturing, Mining, Pulp and Paper, Textiles, Agricultural Science and Renewable Energy.
